Virgin Island Nautical Chart
Virgin Island Nautical Chart
Hand-drawn chart
Virgin Island Chart
Drawn and painted entirely by hand. Using India ink layered with a watercolor wash.

Anegada to St Croix. If you enjoy sailing the Virgins or know someone that does. This map has the flavor of the old world charts – it’s just a bit more precise.

In this Virgin Island chart; I’ve included the Tortola Sloop, Old Sailing Ships, the bays (especially old favorites like; Throw Away Wife Bay off of great Camanoe Island - some names just make you wonder), reefs, shoals and drops, game fish, sea turtles, a Nurse Shark, a Spotted Eagle Ray and more sea life mixed in with my mythical mermaids and sea monsters. I’ve repeated a style that I created for my Thai chart - two columns flanking the sides allowing more depth for the artwork, still playing - within the limitations of cartography.

As a general rule of thumb, if a chart has mermaids and sea monsters - avoid navigating by it. That said, for a “We were here…” "...when the anchor dragged", or "...here when the main sail blew", or "...here when we saw that whale and dolphins" this chart is very correct.

Mermaids, Pelicans, Magnificent Frigatebirds, Sea Turtles, Game Fish, Dolphins, Old Sailing Ships, the Tortola Sloop and Sea Monsters adorn this hand drawn and painted - chart of the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.
